Gen 11:6-7 | scripture pictures @ alittleperspective.com

The first occurrence.

And God created the great sea creatures, and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed, with regard to their kinds, and every winged creature with regard to its kind; and God saw that it was good. Gen 1:21

In the Scripture Pic: … and now nothing will be withheld from them …

The primitive root.

Strong’s H3605 כל kol, an abstract concept meaning, “the whole, everything;” from Strong’s H3634 כלל kalal, a primitive root meaning, “to complete, perfect.”

kaph כ ך = open palm, thus bend, open, allow, tame
lamed ל = shepherd’s staff, thus teach, yoke, to, bind
lamed ל = shepherd’s staff, thus teach, yoke, to, bind

The story: When something is tamed (kaph) to the teaching (lamed) of the shepherd or husbandman (lamed), then it has been perfected.

Gen 1:20 | scripture pictures @ alittleperspective.com

The first occurrence.

And God Elohiym said, “Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let winged creatures fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.” Gen 1:20

The primitive root.

Strong’s H8318 שרץ sherets, a concrete object meaning, “swarming things;” from Strong’s H8317 שרץ sharats, a primitive root meaning, “to swarm.”

shin ש = two front teeth, thus sharp, press, eat, two, again
resh ר = head of man, thus head, first, top, beginning, man
tsadey צ ץ = trail, thus a man concealed, journey, chase, hunt

The story: The two front teeth, shin, can convey the idea of plurality and multiplication, as anything x2 increases its number. So, multiplied (shin) heads (resh) which creep (tsadey, as a hunter does along a trail); i.e., the swarming of creeping things.

The first occurrence.

And the evening and the morning were the fourth day. Gen 1:19

The primitive root.

Strong’s H7243 רביעי rebiy’iy, an adjective meaning “fourth,” the ordinal of Strong’s H702 ארבע arba, “four,” the cardinal number; from Strong’s H7251 רבע raba, a primitive root meaning, “to square.” The 3 letters resh + bet + ayin tell the parable.

resh ר = head of man, thus head, first, top, beginning, man
bet ב = house, thus house, household, family, in, within
ayin ע = eye, thus watch, know, shade

The story: The head (resh) stone of the house (bet) is the cornerstone, which was always closely watched (ayin) to ensure that it was laid squarely.

The Hebrew Testament Biblical text is from the 1917 Jewish Publication Society edition posted by Mechon Mamre online. I have aligned the verse and chapter numbers to the KJV. The Greek Testament Biblical text is from the 1769 Authorized King James edition posted by Official King James Bible online.  For both Testaments, I have modernized words, spelling, and grammar. Translation changes to correct anti-Messiah and anti-Torah bias are noted in the text. The linked studies, chiastic structures, and Scripture pictures are my own and are copyright © Christine Miller.
